Many councils collect large items such as sofas, beds and fridges from your home, for a fee. If the item is in good condition, a charity may collect it for free.
Book on your council's website. Councils set their own prices and limits. For example, Brent Council charges £55 for up to five items, and Nottingham City Council charges £26 for up to six.
Some councils give one free collection a year to people who get certain benefits.
The British Heart Foundation collects furniture, electricals and homeware from homes across the country for free. Sofas and chairs need their fire safety label.
When you buy a new electrical item, the shop must offer a free way to recycle your old one if it does the same job. Many take it back in store. Ask about this when you order.
These services come to you, so Binmap does not show them on the map. The guides below say which service suits each item.
