Binmap
Litter and dog bins

Public bins, litter bins and dog bins near you

Public bins take small bits of rubbish while you are out, such as a wrapper, a cup or a bagged dog poo. Open the map to see the nearest one and walk there.

Key facts

  • Binmap maps 135,346 public bins from data that councils publish. London has the most, with 6,287.
  • Each bin on the map shows its type where the data has one. Head for a recycling bin when you have a can or a bottle.
  • Batteries and vapes do not go in a street bin. Batteries can start fires when they are crushed with other rubbish.
  • Household rubbish bags, paint and anything large need a tip or a council collection.
  • If a bin on the map is missing or in the wrong place, report it from the bin's panel on the map.
  • Report litter to the local council.

Before you go

  • Use a public bin for small rubbish you are carrying, not for household bags.
  • Batteries and vapes can start fires, so take them to a battery box instead.
  • If a bin is full, walk on to the next one. Do not leave rubbish beside it.
